Better tell your Mama you better do what she said
Get to that barber shop and get that hair cut off your head
Goose to Chuck Berry and you wed it to the neighbours cat
You get it to the bathroom a better mama's laundromat
Well he puts the tax on speeches there
Puts a fool all in your hair
Now junior, behave yourself!

And that's no joke.
Those took some working out:
"Gonna tell your Mama you better do what she said.
Get to the barber shop and get that hair cut off your head.
You took canary and you fed it to the neighbour's cat.
You gave the cocker spaniel a bag of mother's laundromat."

"Well he puts some tacks on teachers chair,
Put chewing gum in little girl's hair
Now Junior, behave yourself."

I bought this double LP of Star Club recordings in 1988 & the lyrics are hilarious! Trying singing some of these words along to the songs! Here's just 3 examples

It's like they just gave up and wrote anything! Incredible that they even bothered to include the lyric sheet! And just imagine how much more confusing that is translated into Japanese. Any non-English speakers would be thinking it is a translation of the proper English lyrics. :? :? :? :? It would be great fun to hold a karaoke party and get everyone to sing those lyrics for the whole album.

Oddly enough on my Japanese Decca sessions on JVC, the lyrics are all pretty accurate. That was the first time I ever found out what the hell Paul is singing in Searchin'.

So funny! Considering this is usually played as a backdrop to something very serious, henceforth I will be the one giggling like a fool with everyone shaking their heads at me. Story of my life! ;)

O Fortune,
like the moon
you are changeable,
ever waxing,
ever waning,
hateful life
first oppresses
and then soothes
as fancy takes it;
poverty
and power
it melts them like ice
fate – monstrous
and empty,
you whirling wheel,
you are malevolent,
well-being is vain
and always fades to nothing,
shadowed
and veiled
you plague me too;
now through the game
I bring my bare back
to your villainy
fate is against me
in health
and virtue,
driven on
and weighted down,
always enslaved.
so at this hour
without delay
pluck the vibrating strings;
since Fate
strikes down the strong man,
everyone weep with me!

That's one of my favourite pieces of music, and now I cannot play it without hearing those words.

The way that line from Bad Boy always sounds to me:

You moved the TULARE (slang synonym for rabbit; after Tulare, pronounced: too-lair-ee, California) and you fed it to the neighbor's cat.
You gave the cocker spaniel a bath in mother's laundromat.

A cat looking at a pet rabbit as its prey is entirely realistic. The official lyrics might say "canary", but John sure isn't making a "kahh"-sound when he hits that word.

How about the Sgt. Pepper's run-out groove:
"Never goosed me any other way...

I have a feeling we'll never know what they're really saying on that one!
