To Vee Jay -

Are these LP rips from the 1988 Wooden box set or from before that ?
My apologies if this was answered previously.

Hi, sam004! Our friend Kwai Chang asked about this back in August. Here's the exchange:
Kwai Chang wrote: If the following question has already been asked, please forgive me.
Are any of these LPs from the digitally remastered versions from the late 80s?
I thought that the UA version of A Hard Days Night was actually released on Capitol as a digital remaster.
I am unsure about the retro rainbow label...it may have predated the digital remastering. But for a brief period, ALL Beatles LP titles appeared on Capitol with the rainbow label. This included ALL U.S. titles, ALL UK titles (including both UK + US versions of HELP, Rubber Soul, Revolver, US MMT, Let It Be w/o gatefold but including a poster). I have never compared the differently mastered versions. I think all digital remastered vinyl received new catalog numbers.
ANY help is appreciated.
Thank you, VeeJay, for this tremendous undertaking.
KC
:)
Hi, KC! Thanks for your great questions about these LPs. :D

I can say with absolute confidence that these predate the digital remaster releases. I remember buying these in the early 80's, when they were ALWAYS fully in stock with at least half a dozen copies of each album in the bins! (I miss those days... ) As I understand it, the purple labels were first released in 1978 and until 1983, when the retro rainbow versions came out. Although most of mine are purple, that's why I have a mix of the two, since the purple was being slowly being phased out as the stock supply sold off, in favor of the retro rainbows. The AHDN Soundtrack is actually a 1980 copy, so there's no digital remastering there either!

These are FAB Vee-Jay! I started my Beatle collecting more seriously in the late 1970s. I discovered used record stores where I could pick up some Beatle albums from the 1960s for $2. Sure, they needed a cleaning and some were more beat up than others, but I didn't care. More Beatles! Also, picked up new green Capitol, orange Capitol, and of course the purple Capitol labels. Purple being the bulk of new album purchases. Also, wasn't the US Rarities on rainbow Capitol?

Awesome job, Vee-Jay!
