Good morning,

It would appear there is no existing artwork for this scheduled release. On one website I read that the artwork was possibly an image of four yellow chicks, perhaps designed by Claude Okamoto.

For fun, I fed that into an AI generator, and it created this.

The Obi looks cool, but makes little sense. I tweaked the image for my own use. It actually kinda works, in a Japanese way.

Best,

GP

There is an article in a Toshiba EMI booklet in '82.
Mr. Takashima says he asked then famous artist Claude Okamoto for the sleeve art.

■The legendary best album.
Why is that? For fans at the time, especially girls, the Beatles were still cute little idols. Of course, they felt something decisively different from other artists, but they didn't really understand it. I guess they were surprised. That poem is good, isn't it? It's real.
●The way your early albums were recorded wasn't British or American. It was completely Japanese.
In those days, the main focus of Western music was to show off one's ideas and feelings, and to make it as enjoyable as possible for the listener. That's why I made "Best of the Beatles."
What does that mean? The release of the "Best of" series means that the artist has become a star in Japan.
I did
This book is becoming a child.
It is said that he is a genius boy.
The car that was being used by the legendary car. He asked me to draw 40% of the chicks because he heard that he liked Nezu. It was really good. I thought it was good, but then I was told to stop. Gradually, I couldn't play around with it. Also, from "Mity Soul" onwards, there was no explanation, and it seemed like the translation was difficult. That was probably because there were no more explanations about the Peters, and they said that tears were not needed, what had happened, and the quality of their poems. However, there were some things that I thought were good, such as vulgarity, and the telephone call with the discussion.
I'm looking forward to the new concert.

Kaori: I might be getting away from the Beatles for a bit, but just as the world's pop music can be divided into pre-Beatles and post-Beatles, I think Japan can also be divided into pre-Folk music and post-Folk music. It's like the emergence of artists who are not in line with the conventional entertainment industry patterns. I believe Taka was also involved with Feakle... As for Taka, he was known for "Imperialism."
"Folkle was like the Beatles.
If "Jin" was on, Kitayama-kun would be a doctor today.
I wonder if it was.
If they had come out, Folkle would have undoubtedly become a big artist. "Yopparai" was certainly full of ideas. I heard their so-called nonsense songs after that, but their true nature and ability were not like that. Was there another group with such a clear individuality? Nori-chan's nonsense side made this three-person combination the best. Kato is a total artist, Kitayama a scientist.
Don't you think they're the Beatles? Lennon's stimulating, aggressive message. Ball's sweetness, George and Ringo's changing it. The four of them were so charming.

The vertical layout confuses machine translation. I cleeaned up text and applied google translation and my tweak.
(This is conversation between Tosikazu Katsuki(beatles researcher) and Hiroyuki Takashima(Toshiba AR and producer).

[Legendary best album]

Katsuki: The way you put together albums for domestic market in the early days unique to Japan, differs from British or American ones.

Takashima: At the time, releasing music in the original format felt like something beneath the standard for me as someone in charge of Western music in company(Toshiba).
The highlight of my skills was how to compile songs based on my own ideas and feelings, and how to make them fun to listen to. That's why I created "Best of the Beatles."

Katsuki: What was that intendef for?

Takashima: There was a series called "Best of,'' and to be included in that series meant that the artist was established as a star in Japan, or a kind of status.

Katsuki: Way of marketing is more progressive than in the UK then.

Takashima: Much so. In the end, it turns out to be an illusion. You may remember Claude Okamoto, a Japanese-French boy who was said to be a genius painter.
I heard that he liked the Beatles, so I asked him to do the sleeve for it. Then He drew four chicks. That's was really good. Just when I thought everything was okay to go, I was suddenly ordered to stop.

Katsuki: Gradually, it became impossible to do own compilations.. Also, starting with Rubber Soul, you stopped japanese liner notes, but you started to insert translated lyrics sheet instead.

Takashima: I guess that's because I decided there was no longer need to explain who the Beatles, and I wanted to spread the quality of their lyric to listeners as widely as possible.
However, there were several calls protesting about the translated lyrics. They said It's vulgar.

Katsuki: Why?

Takashima: For fans back then, especially girls, the Beatles were still cute idols. Of course, Girls percepted that they were definitely different from other artists, but I don't think they really understood it. That's why I guess they were surprised when John sang things like "I once had a girl " etc. But that lyric is nice, it's real.
