New Documentary on the Beatles' First US Visit Out on 29 November!
As the title says, this is a new documentary that will use some of the Maysles footage, as restored by Peter Jackson, with a soundtrack remixed by Giles Martin. It'll be released in a few week's time.
EDIT: The announcement is out (see below).

Hope that means some of those Ed Sullivan/DC audio gets a modern remix, I remember some of DC being in the old Maysles footage!beatlesondvd wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 12:42 pm As the title says, this is a new documentary that will use some of the Maysles footage, as restored by Peter Jackson, with a soundtrack remixed by Giles Martin. This makes sense, given all the First U.S. Visit footage played on the screens during Paul's live performance of "Now and Then".beatlesondvd wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 12:42 pm As the title says, this is a new documentary that will use some of the Maysles footage, as restored by Peter Jackson, with a soundtrack remixed by Giles Martin. I did a search, and I can't find any information on where this will be playing. Will it get a theatrical release? Will it be streaming on Apple +? What time is it right now? Nurse?
I have always enjoyed the original movie and I look forward to a new take on it.

Any idea how this is coming ? Is it through a streaming site like Disney+ or will it be a physical release.....or both ?

There has been a rumour that a new documentary called '1964' is coming soon to Apple TV based on the full year, not just the February invasion, so taking into account the first US tour also.
Not sure how true this is or whether it's the rumoured official Mayles update, but it sounds good all the same.

It's gotta be November 22 right? To get along with the US albums boxset.
Phase one in which Doris gets her oats!

I couldn't think of a better way to commemorate November 22....oh wait, maybe any other day but that one.
With The Beatles saw its release on November 22, 1963. But the weight of that day shifted the moment JFK was killed. Maybe not as much in the UK. Though I was still a few months prior to conception, my legacy not yet firmly established, being but a discussion, and a maybe we should...
That date resonates throughout the US, not as a milestone for The Beatles, but as a tragic end to a promising presidency.
Maybe this year will be different?

Beatles Documentary From Martin Scorsese Sets Disney+ Release in November
The Beatles‘ 1964 trip to America will be chronicled in a new documentary from producer Martin Scorsese and director David Tedeschi.
Titled “Beatles ’64,” the film will be released on Disney+ on Nov. 29 and features never-before-seen footage of the band and its legions of young fans during the height of Beatlemania. It also includes new interviews with the two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
The doc follows McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison and Starr as they land in New York City in February 1964 and solidify their status as the biggest band in the world. “Beatles ’64” promises to tell “a more intimate behind the scenes story” of the Fab Four as they debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show” to more than 73 million viewers, which back then was the most-watched television event of all time.
“Beatles ’64” features rare footage filmed by documentarians Albert and David Maysles, restored in 4K by Park Road Post in New Zealand.
Producing alongside Scorsese are Margaret Bodde, McCartney, Starr, Olivia Harrison, Sean Ono Lennon, Jonathan Clyde and Mikaela Beardsley, with Jeff Jones and Rick Yorn serving as executive producers.
This isn’t Scorsese’s first venture into Beatle-land. In 2011, he directed “George Harrison: Living in the Material World,” a documentary on the live of the Liverpudlian guitarist and his travels to India. Scorsese has also helmed music docs about Bob Dylan and the Band.
A week before the release of “Beatles ’64,” on Nov. 22, seven American Beatles albums will be reissued in a vinyl collection titled “The Beatles: 1964 U.S. Albums in Mono.” The boxed set includes albums that have been out of print on vinyl since 1995, including “Meet The Beatles!,” “The Beatles’ Second Album,” “A Hard Day’s Night (Original Motion Picture Sound Track),” “Something New,” “The Beatles’ Story (2LP),” “Beatles ’65” and “The Early Beatles.”
