Re: Complete Recording Sessions Vol 15 prototype available
Guess what? The finish line is in sight! I've uploaded a beta release of Volume 15 (lets call it a prototype). All feedback and criticism is welcomed (positive, negative, constructive, destructive, missing bits, redundant bits, etc.). Link is in the first post.

This is fantastic! It's worth noting that the chat before The Ballad Of John & Yoko Take 7 is from Take 4, while the chat after the take ends is from Take 2. Not sure if you plan on dividing up the SDE takes in that way though. Also, I think the Anthology take of Maxwell's Silver Hammer is mainly from Take 5 but they edit in a verse from Take 12 on the SDE. Very strange!

Re: Complete Recording Sessions Vol 15 prototype available
In the home stretch now! Very exciting :) The vintage mix of Paul singing Carry That Weight was a nice surprise, I've never heard that before.
Like Adam said there are a couple spots where tracks have edited dialogue. "Well that was superb" doesn't belong on take 2 of Octopus's Garden, Lewisohn notes that it's from after take 8 (so its placement at the beginning of take 9 is fine). I'm sure there are many more but I'm not as familiar with these sessions so I don't know if all of the edited segments can be correctly identified.
For the July 24 and 25 sessions, Mustard and Sun King are split into separate tracks but Polythene Pam and Bathroom Window aren't. Not sure if there's a reason for that but it might be better to have them consistent (IMO joining the tracks is better since they're a single performance)
I'm also of the opinion that the I Want You (Session + Reduction Mix) should be split into two tracks. The recording of that song is already such a mess that I think keeping them together confuses things. But I understand wanting to keep it a full performance so it could go either way.
Most importantly though, for the January 1970 session you're missing Wake Up Little Susie and I Me Mine Take 11 from the Let It Be SDE. That track also has a longer version of the take 15 intro. ("What Dozy says goes for me and Tich!") The fully overdubbed version of I Me Mine Take 16 from Anthology 3 should be included too, since while the Glyn Johns mixes are the same performance, they don't include one of the guitar overdubs.

Re: Complete Recording Sessions Vol 15 prototype available
Another nitpick - the dialogue at the start of Sun King Take 20 from the SDE ("This won't keep the Apple staff in work for the next 10 years") - is taken from Take 10 of Sun King. The "unknown take" of Here Comes The Sun (RB + Call The Studio) is also Take 4. For Take 2 of Here Comes The Sun, I believe a much longer version is available in The Beatles Rock Band (lasting 9 seconds rather than 3 seconds currently in the set.)

Oh one more thing. I know isolations aren't really the focus of this series, but since the Abbey Road set has a few orchestral isolations it might be nice to do the same for the April 1 1970 session. I'm not sure how cleanly those can be isolated, but it would be a good way to round out the series by finishing with the final Beatles recording session.

It's there in "1969-07-07 Here Comes The Sun [unknown take] (RB+DFTC)". I'll figure out if I can remove the redundancy.

Re: Complete Recording Sessions Vol 15 prototype available
Can we get quick upgrade of Beatles For Sale volume at some point? Looking forward to check Abbey Road sessions! Thank you!
Re: Complete Recording Sessions Vol 15 prototype available
I like what I'm seeing/hearing. It even answered for me why there were so few Mary Jane mixes on the White Album volume. My only question right now is why the full Take 10 for Ballad of John and Yoko isn't here. I can't remember who originally posted it, or how they made/found it in the first place. Sounds legit to me, though. It was originally posted on this board, then added to "1969 Chronicles". Here's the FLAC, if anyone's interested:

Again, so great to see this highly valuable project nearing the "final" stretch (at least, final until we get that Rubber Soul box in... who knows)!
EDIT: One other note, I guess: The extra guitar part in "Come Together", as heard in a radio documentary (also on the Abbey Road Moggical Mystery Tour CD). Is there a place for that somewhere, or is it already there and I can't find it?

Hey, that's pretty good! Not loving the weird stereo effect on it, but I'd love to know where this originally came from.dascottjr wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2024 6:33 pm My only question right now is why the full Take 10 for Ballad of John and Yoko isn't here.
