And it’s always with people who have zero relevance on the topic..I’ll leave it at thatLord Reith wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 9:11 am The stuff about "interviews with fans whose lives were affected by the events" is worrying. That sounds an awfully like the dreaded celebrity talking heads from 8 Days A Week. I hope the action is not going to be interupted every three minutes by some drip banging on about how good The Beatles were. We know they were good. That's why we're watching.

I had kind of been hoping for a miniseries, a bit like get back where we'd have an episode devoted to New York, then another on Washington, then a third on Miami. Possibly with the full Coliseum integrated. Having the action interrupted constantly even by Paul himself is a drag.
I've always reckoned that the Maysles footage is the REAL Hard Day's Night. Much funnier and more exciting. I hope this is at least going to be a couple of hours long and we'll get plenty of that footage, but allowing for interviews with Paul, Ringo and the drips plus excerpts from the performances there probably won't be a lot of time left for new material.
Another thing that worries me is that if this is only 90 min long then it's going to vanish into a sea of 90 min Beatle documentaries on the other streaming platforms. A simple search for "Beatles" on Tubi throws up dozens of these. I can't imagine the average punter will be able to tell them apart when they're browsing through Justwatch or whatever indexing app they use.

It's a pipe dream but I hope that somehow, out of this, comes a complete version of the first US press conference at JFK.
The portions we have are solid gold. Like LR said, it's the real A Hard Day's Night.
Q: "Liverpool is the..."
RINGO: "It's the capital of Ireland."
PAUL: "Anyway, we wrote half of your folk songs in Liverpool."
RINGO: "Yeah, don't forget!"
Q: "In Detroit Michigan, there handing out car stickers saying, 'Stamp Out The Beatles.'"
PAUL: "Yeah well... first of all, we're bringing out a Stamp Out Detroit campaign."
Q: "What about the Stamp Out The Beatles campaign?"
JOHN: "What about it?"
RINGO: "How big are they?"

Hi All
Wasnt there a expanded version of the Beatles first visit on VHS years ago ??? not officially released.
Also with 2 documentaries that are coming out on Disney+ and Apple TV. Would anyone speculate if they will be released on DVD in the future.
concidering they have spent alot of money on both films.
Re:the Maysles footage - I also understand there was alot more footage shot that was never released - maybe the Mayles Brothers ( Estate )
has copywrite over the existing footage and not Apple Corp.

I think the Apple tv one was just some reporter confusing Apple tv with Apple records. They both seem to have been talking about the same documentary.

Is "What's happening! The Beatles in the U.S.A." circulating in full?

My understanding is it's a 2 hour documentary. I too wished for a Get Back style miniseries.. Oh well. As long as we don't get Whoopie Goldberg type talking heads I'll be happy...
