ONE HAND CLAPPING 2024 WHAT'S NEW?
Re: ONE HAND CLAPPING 2024 WHAT'S NEW?
Mike, did you manage to listen to the old japanese vinyl Band on the Run Demos, which may contain unique fragments of these recordings?

They're not the same, but yet it stays perfectly in sync, has the same tone, dynamics... It could very well be taken from the multisdannysonar wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:02 pmYes, I noticed that too and had the feeling it was a remix of the original recording with just acoustic guitar and vocal. But I couldn't bother comparing both versions to be certain of that.CharlesHawtrey wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 8:07 am I'm still on the fence about the legitimacy of Sally G as we can clearly hear leakage of the original backing track at various points ...
Unless Paul had the track playing on headphones while recording it, which doesn't make more sense.
Phase one in which Doris gets her oats!

Thank you very much for your comments. Cheersdascottjr wrote: ↑Tue Sep 24, 2024 7:05 am Thank you for your incredibly thorough look at what has easily become my favorite Wings album. It's part hits compilation, part soundtrack, part live album, but essentially just an enjoyable studio double album and one-stop source for classic Paul and peak Wings.

I was looking forward to it. I'll be listening to One Hand Clapping again today while reading your review.
Thanks again-

Saw it this very afternoon.
Film content: I think the same as we already had (?) although I hadn't watched the version from the BOTR Archive edition in a while. It was followed by a c10 minute Backyard Sessions tape that featured Paul signing Blackpool, 20 Flight Rock, Peggy Sue and I'm Gonna Love You Too.
Film quality: Whatever remastering or digital magic that was sprinkled seems to have had little or no effect. It looks like what it is - an old VHS tape.
Music quality: Absolutely superb. Crystal clear in a way that was sometimes hard to square with the fuzzy visuals. Good use of surround sound in between songs.
If you go to a cinema to see this, you're going for their speakers, not the visuals (which would probably look better on a small monitor). 1985 in particular was excellent and probably worth the price of admission alone.

I saw it on Thursday night and was appalled by the quality. To my eyes, whatever "remastering" MPL may have performed made the film quality WORSE. Afterwards, I re-watched the GOLDIES version which, although the resolution wasn't quite as good as that in the theater version, was overall more enjoyable for me.
EDIT: My comments relate strictly to the video quality. The sound quality, as others noted, was excellent.

Sweet Little Sixteen was also included in the Backyard.fabwill wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 4:44 pmSaw it this very afternoon.

The picture quality is not fantastic, we all know that but the sound was excellent, could have been played louder though. Nothing new regarding content in the film, but I really enjoyed Paul's introductions.

I thought the same too, was wondering if anyone else thought the same.20YearsAgo wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 6:29 pm I saw it on Thursday night and was appalled by the quality. He could use Peter Jackson's help.
To me, it reminded me of his own attempt at Let It Be.
