R.I.P. Bernard Hill

Post by IfYouLookToYourLeft »

The actor Bernard Hill has passed away at the age of 79. He is probably most famous for his portrayal of the doomed Captain Smith in James Cameron’s 1997 film ‘Titanic’ and was also in the 2nd and 3rd Lord of the Rings films. While reading his Wikipedia page I came across a mention of this television production from 1985 where he played John Lennon (!) and looked for it on YouTube. I am shocked by how much he actually resembled John in his last year of life. I had never heard of this program before.

To a lot of us he was more famous for his role in the TV series Boys From The Black stuff portraying Yosser Hiughes a victim of Thatcher's Britian with his catch phrase 'Gis a job' as he struggled with mental disintegration due to long term unemployment.

But lets not forget his role in Willy Russell’s 1974 stage musical John, Paul, George, Ringo … and Bert.

This might be totally in bad taste. So I'll brace myself.
Bernard Hill was a well-respected actor and we will miss him. May he RIP.

And here we go...

You can see Bernard Hill briefly in this Tragic Titanic Tally:
He's #15

I get the sentiment but that video is blocked to Australian viewers.
