Is there anything recorded that is in depth? Besides Anthology, you know.

Your questions raises a good point. I don't there was ever a really good, thorough interview recorded of all four of them together, that's not to say there's not plenty of good stuff out there but it's wherever you find it.

The interview at Treslong TV studio on June 5 1964. Just the question 'who mends your stockings while you are on tour' makes my day.

The most frank interview they ever did was with Playboy but I don't think there's any audio of it. And it doesn't particularly reveal them as very nice people.

The Playboy interview was a new one on me and is indeed a cut above most of the rest: You get a real sense of what their lives would have been like.
LR - what strikes you as them being unpleasant? - this reads like 4 young blokes who've had a few drinks and are just riffing off each other the way good friends do. Mind you, Jayne Mansfield might not have enjoyed reading it and the casual homophobia (from the interviewer as much as anyone) looks extremely dated.

It starts out funny but then they come over as very jaded and cynical. It's actually entirely typical of men that age, I was exactly like that too.fabwill wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2024 9:46 am LR - what strikes you as them being unpleasant? - this reads like 4 young blokes who've had a few drinks and are just riffing off each other the way good friends do. Wonder if anyone has a clearer copy of that interview. I can barely read that copy.
Never the less, thanks much for sharing it.

If you can tell me the issue number/date, I can see if my digital copy is better.
