The Cadbury Egg incident was a real occurrence

But, as explained in the article, the 'Gesture Egg' was a promotion by a single franchised Cadbury outlet, independent of Cadbury/Mondelez

Mondelez International, which owns Cadbury, said it had licensed the brand to Freshstores Limited, which runs the Cadbury discount store "completely independently".

As is suggested on this thread, all this nonsense is by so called do-gooders who find offence on behalf of others, where no offence is intended or taken. It's then whipped up into a media storm by the looney press we have in this country. Hopefully, their influence will wane after the coming general election.
