Give over guv. That 's someone playing guitar along with the record!
Nope, it's just John's guitar boosted by 12dB. No intrusive audio was added to the mix.

Ahh right. But it's way too loud, it'd be better if you bring that down and bring George up. It kind of sounds like someone practising along with the record. :)

Pretty remarkable what you've done though. Kudos.

Meh, there are enough mixes with the acoustic guitar buried! Everyone's used to that. I wanted to see if it's possible to make a split guitar mix without cheating, and turns out, it is.

I'm pleasantly surprised with how well it demixed in general. I'll relisten in a few days, and maybe tweak the mix some more with fresh ears.

It's amazing that you pulled just the rhythm guitar. So what would be cool would be to do a "demo" mix with just that guitar and the vocals. And then add some crackle from an acetate...

Actually what would sound most authentic would be to do a twin track mix but put John's acoustic guitar on the right with the voice. The twin track mixes always have his acoustic guitar on the vocal track in the background, and that is one of the obvious flaws with most attempts to make fake twintrack mixes (including mine).

Incredible.

You beat Abbey Road (a premier studio) at their own game. <tips hat>

I've been nibbling away at a stereo version using the EP source but have been struggling to even out the drum sound. The middle take (not the take at the beginning and end) has the snare more distantly miked it seems. I had no idea the edit pieces were at different speed.

John always wanted more guitar anyways.

The speed difference is really small, but enough to throw off the EQ alignment. (-0.12% and +0.27% compared to the speed of the first segment)

Can you give us a hint how the other guitar was separated?

Manual refinement of the automated extraction?
