Nice! Thanks!flyinghour wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 12:50 am Hey there,
I also wasn't a huge fan of the new remix of Revolution on the Blue album, so I tried my hand at making a "clean" version of the LOVE mix. I used the Rock Band multitracks for the intro and outro and did my best to pan the guitars like how the LOVE version has them. Here is my attempt:

I'm not sure there is any difference between the 1968 mix and the 2023 mix. I mean, was it even remixed?DDE wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 12:59 pmYou're right. The intention of these mixes seems to change with every release. With Pepper in 2017 the emphasis was on replicating the mono. Now that's gone completely out of the window, and we have new Mixes of Walrus and Revolution which go out of their way to replicate the original, compromised stereo mixes.
One possibility that the LOVE mixes sound so good is that George Martin was still involved. Yes, his hearing might have been impaired, but it's possible that George's decades of expertise and learning from his early stereo mistakes was key. He could still hear stereo and perhaps it was he that achieved the nice balance. Just a guess. Perhaps one of the engineers pushed for the better mixes, but I doubt that would have been delegated to them.

Not at all. In the same album, one track can sound wonderful and the next one completely garbage. It's just that the inconsistency reached a whole new level on the new Red & Blue.Engonoceras wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 12:26 pmYeah, it's pretty baffling how the previous mixes (Rock Band, LOVE) were mostly right (excusing the changes for LOVE) and this latest is a WTF mix.I Am The Walrus wrote: ↑Sun Nov 19, 2023 2:06 am Hello flyinghour and Bombers_1969,
Thank you very much for sharing your Revolution remixes, they are really great.
Much better than this garbage from 2023.
I'm not bashing Giles when I say his whole remix tenure has been schizophrenic. No consistency in terms of remixing style or quality AT ALL. That's just an objectively true observation. Am I wrong?
