I was sated by Lord Reith's I Am The Walrus and although similar, Engonoceras did his own mix that I liked. They are not the same. However, I always thought this was Lennon's first attempt to induce harmonic tension on the surface of the playback...which might be what Giles thinks. I haven't heard the new Blue mix. But, both of their(L.R./Engo) respective versions are most welcome to my ears...I have always disliked the discomfort of the song on all versions prior. So, if Lennon was pleased, he might like Giles' new 'mix, even more. Giles might have strict orders to head West. But is that on the x, y graph or the x, y, z graph? 118 vertical layers of King Lear Tension? I don't know if that's...is it? Could it be a precursor of Number 9? It could...but, if Lennon thought Walrus too tense, he might have had ideas that were much more subtle but no less influential! THIS is the blessing of disassembly...AND, the curse. We will be forced to debate even more than we do...but new appreciation is a realm of its own. And, so Eureka! Gooo gooo gooo jooob!20YearsAgo wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 2:44 pmDid I miss this? Could someone point me to it? Thanks!Lord Reith wrote: ↑Tue Nov 14, 2023 8:42 am Well I'm glad people like my mix of Walrus.
I don't understand why they didn't demix the original radio feed. As with previous versions they've gone back to the BBC's archive copy of the play and re-added the voices and synthesised radio twiddling effects, which has led to some extra stuff being included that was not actually on the record.
A lot of people seem to like it though, so what do I know.
