Re: Now And Then (merged threads)
Well, that was fun!
Here are instrumental and vocal only mixes of the new track - lots of hidden detail to enjoy:

Well that was much, much better than I expected and, to me, feels far more Beatles like than FAAB and LR.
It may be because John's voice is so crystal clear.
Any chance they may redo FAAB and LR?

Re: Now And Then (merged threads)
I'm afraid I'm completely underwhelmed.
I had great hopes for this, but the harmonies and backing vocals are barely audible, and the whole thing sounds a bit contrived (e.g. Paul doing a George solo) and trying too hard to tick all the right boxes. It does sound like a Beatles product, though. Those execs at Apple must be happy.
I didn't much like "Now and Then" when it was just a Lennon demo either. I liked the Beatles' versions of FAAB and RL much better (but then there were three).
I'll give it many more listens for study, I'm sure, but not because I enjoy the song.
Very much looking forward to PJ's music video, though.

Sounds pretty good. Reminds me of the older hard-panned stereo mixes.plasticsoul wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 3:25 pm What are people's initial thoughts on the stereo Love Me Do..??
Interested in any/all Bootlegs. Sometimes I make my own.

Surprise, surprise! Guy, you already had your mind made up on the matter before you heard it. An opinion you made clear numerous times. No one expected you to pop in doing cartwheels because you did a 180 on your preconceived opinion that it wouldn't be good.billychildish wrote: ↑Thu Nov 02, 2023 2:10 pmYes. Not very good, IMHO. George was right with the "fuckin' rubbish" comment.

Re: Now And Then (merged threads)
I was very pleased with the song! I loved it! And, oh man, John’s vocals - what MAL did just blew me away! So clear, so prominent.
For those of us who have heard the Dakota demo for decades, we knew what the song was going to sound like (roughly) - a demo I always liked as well.
So I think those who set their expectations to ‘Hey Jude’ were disappointed, and they are entitled to their opinion. I do agree with them that it’s not their finest song, but a really good song and a great coda to their recorded history.
It wasn’t going to be song that was going to change the course of music. I think it perfectly fits the other two Threetle reunion singles perfectly and will be forever grateful that this shelved song that all of us Beatles fans knew they were working on during the Anthology was finally finished and released.
And as for the new mix of Love Me Do - amazing in true stereo and I really hope the Beatles utilize the MAL tech to release deluxe sets of Please Please Me through Rubber Soul.
