Badfinger "Baby Blue" (1972 Apple Records Acetate)

Post by cliftdean74 »

In 2013 I purchased a 7" Apple Records acetate of Badfinger "Baby Blue" at a record store in Hellertown, PA. I know there are fakes on the market, in some instances really authentic looking fakes. Is this one legit or a good fake or a bad fake? Regardless, I played it once on a Thorens TD-160 turntable. Given that this year is the 50th anniversary of that single, here's the video of that one and only playback.

Sounds like either the album mix or the single mix, not sure. It would be nice to see a clear photograph of the label . . . it doesn't look 50 years old, or does it?

It’s at my mother’s house. I’ll be up there next week. I will take detailed pictures of the label and post them here.

Baby Blue. The tune that closes out Breaking Bad.

My band played that one. Or at least, we gave it our best. While I was able to nail the solos in rehearsal, the live performance is an entirely 'nother milieu. At least I could hit (and can still hit) the high vocal harmonies. We had fun, though. My, Dixie, dear.

The single mix had reverb added to the snare drum.
