Re: Abbey Road (Black Triangle)
The first CD bootleg was Sessions. I remember because there was a big stink about it. The record companies had been saying that the arrival of the cd format would see the end of bootlegs, because they were so much harder to manufacture. They were really staggered to see boot cds come out of Europe.ianbuckers wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 9:28 am Hardly unique in being a CD bootleg available before 1987. The lack of official product fueled that.

Oh by the way that first cd release of the Star Club in Japan is the only time a tape source was used to my knowledge. Every other SC cd I bought (and there were many!) was a needle drop.

Know this is an old thread, but any chance of a re-up for both "pre" and "non-pre" versions? Thanks

Re: Abbey Road (Black Triangle)
So Sessions was available on CD before the live CDs made in Italy ? My first boot on CD was Live In Tokyo from Bulldog.Lord Reith wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 1:02 amThe first CD bootleg was Sessions. Re: Abbey Road (Black Triangle)
Sorry if I'm misunderstanding , but I would be very surprised if Toshiba mastered the Black Triangle CD from a consumer 7 1/2 ips quarter inch reel. Isn't it more likely that the CD and the consumer 1/4" were both mastered from the same tape provided by EMI UK? ? If so, the consumer reel is one analog generation down from the CD.hogshead of hellfire wrote: ↑Fri Aug 27, 2021 11:10 pm Info on a cdr transfer available from Japan of the Toshiba 1969 A.R. reel (essentially: the same thing as the Black Triangle, for only $26 and --- from a source, theoretically, then-having 15 years' less age on it).
