Apple Records in Yugoslavia

Post by Kingof2007 »

Back in 1968 ,somwhere around Decemeber, Yugoslavia decided to release the White Album in their Country.

The Problem?

How do they reproduce those covers? So they imported Copys of the White Album to Yugoslavia (altough Yugoslavia was more of a export than import country). What makes this pressing diffrent to the UK pressing then I hear you asking? Well you lose the cool looking apple saldly, you get the plain old "yellow Parlophone" label.

Here is the Downlaod link to my rip of the Yugoslavian pressing. I tried my best in correcting the pops and reduce some surface noise. I hope you like it!

Sadly I don't have any other pressing to compare it too (Don't have any Stereo pressings, like it in mono more), so if there are any diffrences please let me know.
All the best and have fun listening to it,
King.

Very nice pressing, thanks for uploading it here.

I had the Yugoslavian Sgt. Pepper and A Collection Of Beatles Oldies (that was the first Beatles LP that was officially released in Yugoslavia in January 1967, named "Hits of Beatles"), both mono. Pepper was great, not different at all from the UK pressing, and the Collection was not so good.

Would like to hear how the Yugoslavian Abbey Road and Let It Be sounded. I had the early eighties reissue of Abbey Road, but not the first Jugoton pressing with the big "STEREO" writing on the labels.

Thanks for posting this one.
I noticed Helter Skelter is shorterened just like the mono mix,and my guess is this would be a stereo edit.

I too own this Jugoton copy of the White Album....it seems that Apple did not exist in certain countries for whatever reason(s)..I also own the Philippines...Greece...Venezuelan...Israel(they also had an Apple label)...and South African White Albums..all on the Parlophone label . And yes, the UK cover was imported to numerous European markets

Collecting the White Album is definitely a sickness that I have never recovered fully from....

Great share of the Yugo copy..Thanks very much!

Later today, I will try and post the Jugoton Pressing of "All things must Pass". The kinda Upgrade (or downgrade) is that there is no Apple Jam Disk.

HI King. Thanks for the upload. Nice one to pick up.

You mentioned a cool looking apple - there were no images or artwork when I downloaded it. Was wondering if you had any, or if you could share the label scans (copied from this page, they are pretty low-res).

Looking forward to ATMP :)
