Stupid question, apologies
I've been downloading the terrific remixes of various Beatles albums and songs - I love this board! Anyway, I see that some links have an expiration date on them, why is that? Just interested, that's all.
Cheers.

They are free hosting sites so there is a time limit to use their bandwidth to host large files.Lon Chaney III wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 11:29 am I've been downloading the terrific remixes of various Beatles albums and songs - I love this board! Well speaking for myself it's because I only use free services that don't require signup. Wetransfer links expire after a week. There are permanent options but you either have to pay, give your phone number or download software.

I also use wetransfer because it's really fast and reliable. Every other time I try and download a google or mega link I get messages telling me I'm a robot or I've exceeded the download limit.Lon Chaney III wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 1:16 am Thanks for the replies. Pretty obvious when I think about it.

Taking advantage of LC3’s excellent topic title and the patience and charity of the other board members, I’ve loved/very much appreciated the ability to download these FLAC files, but have not yet figured out how to organize/play them except for one at a time from the cloud folder I download them to. Any recommendation for an app that would let me organize them so I can listen to them on my iphone in an “album” type format that automatically plays individual songs one after the other?

I use Hi-Fi Cast. It's an android app. It's like the Google Play app but nicer looking and doesn't expect you to stay logged in to google. Chromecast support up to 24bit 96k, gapless playback (essential!), and lots of other good stuff. There's a free version but you can pay a couple of bucks for the premium.PAMcDaddy wrote: ↑Wed Jun 09, 2021 11:47 pm Taking advantage of LC3’s excellent topic title and the patience and charity of the other board members, I’ve loved/very much appreciated the ability to download these FLAC files, but have not yet figured out how to organize/play them accept one at a time from the cloud folder I download them to. Also good is Black Player. Same deal, has an interface that looks almost exactly like Spotify.

If you are using an iphone PAMcDaddy the problem is that Apple doesn't support flac - which is an absolute pain. To get them onto the phone you'd have to convert them (xAct is good for gapless conversion). The Vox player works well for for gapless flac playback on a Mac computer, but as far as I'm aware it's not available for the iphone.

There actually is a version of the Vox app for iOS and it supports flac. VLC will also play flac on iOS.Lemonhead wrote: ↑Thu Jun 10, 2021 10:21 am If you are using an iphone PAMcDaddy the problem is that Apple doesn't support flac - which is an absolute pain.
