Here's the UK single mix of Thankyou Girl in stereo.
"I have this!" you say. Well, not quite.
How can I explain this in the least confusing way? The guys recorded take 6 of TYG but it had no ending, so then they recorded an edit piece of a new ending, take 13. The edit piece begins exactly where one of the harmonica parts would be, at 1'37". John recorded his harmonica part twice at this juncture, once on take 6 and once on take 13. The mono single used the take 13 overdub, and the US stereo mix (on Past Masters) used the take 6 overdub. So the UK mono and US stereo mixes are completely different around this point from about 1'37" to 1'40", because they not only have different harmonica but different backing because the edit occurs at a different place.
In short, there's no stereo version of that little bit of the mono single where it's different to the US mix. So I've extracted the unique harmonica bit from the single and reconstructed the single in stereo, with the correct sequencing at 1'37". The most obvious difference is that you hear Paul play a terrible wrong bass note at this point in the US mix, but not in the UK single mix (or this one). I don't think the other two harmonica bits are different on the UK to the US, but just to be sure I extracted those too and added them in, rather than using the US mix.
