Playing reel tapes originally mastered on tube decks decades later on transistorized equipment WILL impart a "different" sonic signature. This is one of the reasons, for example, the Capitol 2004 and 2006 cds' sound (in many cases) surprisingly better with more of a pleasing vintage brilliance to the ear than the 2009s from Apple: the Capitol tapes were played back on a vintage Ampex 351 from the era during the remastering process, while the 2009s were made from a Studer 810 or 820 (solid state and 20 years' NEWER than what the recording/mastering/duplicating chain consisted of in the '60s).
It's the same mindset with making digitized home archives: the transistors and opamp circuits which came to dominate recorders from tech dating around 1973-forward to the end of the analog tape period; circa 1990, will often make vintage tapes sound bass-heavy and veiled. Heads, as long as the track alignment properly corresponds and the heads were relapped near to original specs, HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
Also, using a 1960s vinyl record as the reference point (especially ones then-marketed toward the disposable Pop consumer) for somehow being a facsimile of "accurate" sound is a mistake. THAT was the format compromised the most for home music reproduction.

First pressing by Disque Americ plant in Drummondville, Quebec (Canada) were made in 1990. They kept pressing Beatles CDs up to 1994 when CINRAM, at the time a plant for cassettes and 8-Tracks only, got the contract and moved to a plant in Ontario close to Toronto, Ontario (Canada). Then around 1995 EMI brought back the contract to its own plant somewhere else in Canada (don't know where though).
But according to te matrix numbers on Discogs, it is probably a breadbox with 2nd pressings from 1991.
