Help! Remixed and Remastered

Post by Hummus905 »

The Beatles
Help! Remixed and Remastered

Method: AI Stems + AI Mastering
Project completed November 7, 2021

Tracklist:
1. Help!
2. The Night Before
3. You've Got To Hide Your Love Away
4. I Need You
5. Another Girl
6. You're Going To Lose That Girl
7. Ticket To Ride
8. Act Naturally
9. It's Only Love
10. You Like Me Too Much
11. Tell Me What You See
12. I've Just Seen A Face
13. Yesterday
14. Dizzy Miss Lizzy

All tracks remixed and remastered from the Japan Toshiba-EMI CD (TOCP-5115).

I am in love with these Toshiba-EMI CDs. They offer great sound and fantastic separation. They were created from the original Japan LP vinyl master tapes, so there is no 1987 remix or tinkering here. I also evaluated the “Big Blue Box” LP and the original stereo mix found as a bonus on The Beatles in Mono box set.

Enjoy!

Sorry for asking, if I am wrong, but was some reverb added during the remixing/remastering? To me it sounds somewhat in between the heavily reverbed 1987/2009 remix and the much dryer 1965 original.

@jpa, no, I did not add any reverb here. Any reverb came from the mastering found on the Toshiba-EMI CDs from the early 80's, which come from the Japan LP master tapes. I can look at remixing the master found on The Beatles in Mono set or the 1978 "Big Blue Box" if there is any interest.

Yeah - the original stereo 1965 Help! found in the 2009 mono box or the Canadian Disque Americ CD that also has the original mix would really be preferable as basis for the remixing of Help! without so much reverb - I would look forward to this! You can probably get the Disque Americ from Yves (yymca6) if you don't have it.

@jpa, note that this is the original stereo mix from the Japan LPs and *not* the 1987 remix.

@jpa, I just A/B/C'ed the
1) Toshiba-EMI CD
2) The Mono Box Set 1965 Stereo Mix
3) The Blue Box LP

They are all the same. No major differences in mastering and certainly no added reverb.

OK - thanks for your efforts - my ears are fooling me! Maybe the remixing reveals more the reverb present already in 1965. This would fit with the explanation by LR that in his ABRACADABRA he removed reverb, so there must have been some.
