Ringo Starr - Goodnight Vienna (Remastered 2021)
Everyone's always obsessed with John, Paul and George.
John has like, 5 Box Sets. Paul has 1 for each album. George has.. well, that one box set that released this year. And "Early Takes".
Really makes you wonder... "What about Snookeroo?"
I've been experimenting with Adobe Audition for remastering some tracks. It's actually pretty straightforward process most of the time. I took the opportunity to remaster the lesser recognized Beatle, Ringo. This is what many people consider one of his best albums. Goodnight Vienna, released 1974.
My process was to take my source (An Early Capitol CD), and widen the stereo slightly (Around 20%-49% was a good range for me). If I noticed any problems with the sound, I would take care of those really fast, Then get to Mastering. I made the high end more prominent on some tracks, turned down the bass on others, and overall made the sound more clear. (To me at least!)
The end result, I hope, is something that you all can enjoy. It's all Da-Da-Da-Down to Goodnight Vienna!

Re: Ringo Starr - Goodnight Vienna (Remastered 2021)
Thank you but beware! There are digital glitches in at least 3 of the songs (3, 8 and 9). You can see them clearly if you normalize the audio.
I was wanting to compare these to a 2016 effort by phil-lip when I made this discovery.

Thanks for making me aware of the issue. I'll check on it as soon as I can.alphabeatles wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 10:32 pm Thank you but beware! There are digital glitches in at least 3 of the songs (3, 8 and 9). You can see them clearly if you normalize the audio.

Listened to the 3 tracks in question.. Haven't noticed anything weird. I could be doing something wrong, though.RalseiDeltarune wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 11:54 pmThanks for making me aware of the issue. It could also be because of the De-Reverb I added to some of the tracks? I forgot to add this in the initial post.

Try normalizing and check the waveform. You'll see the spikes clearly.
Sometimes mastering too loud might do this (?).

Can you post a screenshot of what to look for?alphabeatles wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 12:33 am Try normalizing and check the waveform. You'll see the spikes clearly.

Re: Ringo Starr - Goodnight Vienna (Remastered 2021)
I put a couple of screenshots on Google drive:
hxxps://drive.google.com/file/d/19jKotrCS6PnGBkr4ziI3mOSQ3Mf2Tqfi/view?usp=sharing
You see how far the audio has to be brought down to accommodate the spikes (which seem to occur on the beats, so they don't stand out as much as random spikes would). Without normalizing, those spikes are really huge!
Hope that helps!

Re: Ringo Starr - Goodnight Vienna (Remastered 2021)
I’m unsure on how to fix this issue. I’ll probably just re-do the tracks in question. Any tips on how to prevent this issue?
