During January - only 2 recording sources exist of the entire time -
#1 - NAGRA 2 camera rolls - for TwicK and Apple - but there were times both cameras were down or A was down and no B has been found. and #2 -
Glyn JOhns multitrack at Apple - we know from Sulpy DDSI which were recorded by JOhns (and those are still secured by Apple) - but since only a fraction of the multitracks have been released (officially and unofficially), the NAGRAS still fill in those blanks as long as those cameras ran, too.

With the 50th Ann Box, we know it lacks a lot of NAGRA material from the song lineup - most extras are the John's reels which can be remastered.
That makes sense - the NAGRA footage was recorded for Video use - to officially release them would be a waste since they are available and mastering would not be superior because of the mono source. Note Anthology, etc all used Glyn JOhn's multitrack versions...which makes sense.

Peter Jackson promises us 6 hours of remastered footage, but that uses NAGRA sourcing, so it will be interesting to hear the sound quality - and if it is in surround, etc.

They cannot release all of the hundreds of hours of NAGRA footage, and a lot of that only has a NAGRA sounrce - so the NAGRA footage will remain relevant. Technology has allowed spectral stereo conversions which is nice, too.

AS FOR EXTRACTIONS -

I'm really focused on the surround releases. I noticed form the previous deluxe surround releases - the extra channels created came from other channels used for overdubs, etc before they were mixed down to stereo for the official release. This means we might have an opportunity to extract clean channels of Phil Spector's overdubs if when the surround mixes are mastered those overdubs are given a discreate channel in the surround spectrum.

So we might be able to extract nice orchestral overdubs of Let It be and I Me mine (and of course Across the universe and winding road).
