ORIGINAL POST
Well after a long interval here is the first volume of this rejigged series. Those familiar with the project will know that I've posted a couple of different versions of Volume 1 before. The first one is best left forgotten, while the second one was a lot better. This third edition is quite similar except I have remixed everything (from the same elements) and made the vocals a little bit softer because they seemed too loud. There's also some new tracks. A couple of tracks I deleted: Misery take 6, because four outtakes of one song is just too much, and Do You Want To Know A Secret with the ending because this is covered by track 31. If you want to keep those two from the old set then fine but please don't share them with this set.
The ins and outs of what I've done are detailed in a document within, but to explain the premise for those new to the set I will quote this section:
"The goal of this project is to remix the Beatles canon in a manner that might have been done in the 1960s if they'd had more tracks to play with.
I haven't tried to modernise the mixes but rather use demixing to capture the punchiness and impact of the mono albums while retaining the superior clarity, dynamics and frequency response of the stereo albums. Aside from the demixing, I have not done anything which would not have been possible to do at the time - so no modern mastering tools like aural exciters and multi-band compression. I want them to be the kind of stereo mixes that would not have sounded out of place in the 60s."
Next week, Volume 2!
