Okay, so what WOULD we put in this fictional box set?

I invite you to submit your own selections for Volume 1. Some rules:

- The songs chosen must be from boots. Nothing from Anthology etc, but a different source of an anthology track from a boot (eg: the unedited How Do You Do It?) is okay.

- The songs from each volume must belong to the same timeline as the original lps (see pic below)

- We ignore Pete Best and start in August 1962 (sorry Pete).

- It doesn't exactly replicate any other known sets.

Thanks but this topic is not about this box set, but for a similar cover for a bootleg collection box set.

Without having sat down with the studio outtakes for a while (and trying not to repeat songs), here's what I would add to Disc 1 for sure:

How Do You Do It? (unedited version)
Some Other Guy (live acetate)
Kansas City / Hey Hey Hey Hey (live acetate)
Love Me Do (BBC live)
A Taste of Honey (BBC live)
P.S. I Love You (BBC live)
I Saw Her Standing There (Cavern rehearsal)
The One After 909 (Cavern rehearsal)
Catswalk (rehearsal)
There's a Place (take ??, outtake)
Do You Want to Know a Secret (take 7)
Misery (take ??, outtake)
Thank You Girl (take ??, outtake)
From Me To You (EMI award ceremony)
Please Please Me (EMI award ceremony)
Hold Me Tight (take ??, outtake)
Don't Bother Me (take ??, outtake)
Please Mister Postman (take 3)
It Won't Be Long (take 7)

Not sure what else (BBC, Star-Club, etc) I would put on there. Would this pretend box set be CD length for each disc, or LP length?

Are we allowed to use outfakes from existing bootlegs? I'm thinking of the Indian Rope Trick bootleg that included "Cheese and Onions" as a "solo Lennon demo"

Hmm. Not sure. LP length would be more authentic I guess. 40mins.

If you started at the beginning of 1962, you could scoop up Love Of The Love from Decca, and perhaps Money or Til There Was You. Love Of The Loved is one of the most important recordings never issued by EMI.

The timeline also allows for Star-Club recordings - so I would nominate maybe Kansas City and To Know Her Is To Love Her, or something.

Are you offering to act as project co-ordinator here, LR? :D
