I'm impressed with the outcome — to me, it definitely sounds better than the digital version of the remix.

I have relied on the 50A vinyl presentation (recorded to FLAC) to smooth out the compression and loudness of the digital version, which has suited me well for listening. This "de-Martin'ed" version is surprisingly similar to that in terms of overall balance, but the slight dip in the remix's "bass hump" (wherever applicable, as on the opening title track) benefits the material. The slightly enhanced stereo field also has the effect of making it seemed less sonically cluttered.

The only minor qualm is that it sometimes seems as though elements like background vocals on some songs or the psychedelic instrumental passages of "Mr. Kite, " for example, are a bit louder than they should be.

All in all, this is an excellent take on the Giles remix — many thanks for sharing with us!

Thank you -this is really enjoyable. It reminds me how boring the 5.1 mix Giles did and he could have been really adventurous.

Re: The Beatles... De-Martin'ed. (2022) WHITE ALBUM MIX OUT NOW!

Post by RalseiDeltarune »

The next one on the list is The Beatles' Self Titled Album, commonly known among fans as "The White Album", from 2018.
(What a long title!)

This was mostly the same process from Sgt. Pepper, but I kept some of the loudness/compression on some of the songs where I felt like it was essential. Specifically, Yer Blues and Helter Skelter. However, I did turn down the bass on all of these songs, as well as some of the top end. Also like Pepper, this was also sourced from my 50th anniversary box set CDs. (Which I got for $70 at a resale store. Good deal!)

Available for 1 Week.

Glad to see someone tackle these. Some of those Giles mixes are really over cooked.

To date, the only way I've been able to enjoy the Giles mixes is by listening to the corresponding vinyl pressings (which I generally like) or, in the case of 'The Beatles,' the Blu-ray.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the latest! Every time I see your titles I think of Dean Martin for some reason...
