Watched it again and really enjoyed it. Some corny scenes and weird incidental music, but they did a pretty darn good job at a time when we knew NOTHING about Beatles historiography.

Plus I’m endlessly fascinated that John was alive when this was made and aired. One has to wonder…

Liverpools Boy wrote: Fri Jul 09, 2021 3:11 am Thank you very much brother, we will keep our favorite version. In my case both because it is the first film about the beatles but without them and that tries to tell the story about the origin of the band. The next will be Blackbeat but this is a jewel.

In another hand, anyone have subtitles for -at least- one of the versions? Many thanks in advance?
I just put the Birth of the Beatles DIVX file that I posted on the previous page through a fully automated transcription process and made a zipped .srt subtitle file for you.

Fully automated means that it will be full of errors and missing lines but.....if you download Subtitle Edit (free) from here hxxps://nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit/ install it and then put the .srt file in a folder with the divx file I posted of the film and double click the .srt file it should open it up in sync with the video...it's then just a case of making manual corrections where necessary. Here's the link to the zipped .srt file hxxps://drive.google.com/file/d/1YImYOs_U5cyM8B2Yer7YtmlV6n6IowOH/view?usp=sharing
Many thanks for the .srt archive for your version. Your .srt archive is enough to star a completion, synchronization, etc work. And thanks for the software, I will give you a try!

I tried to download DocRobert's DVD version of the longer UK cut but the download speed was 54kb/s and would have taken an entire day.

Did anybody else download this version and can share it via wetransfer or google?

UK BBC => VHS => DVD-R, 1980, Mono, PAL, 14:9 in a 4:3 frame as broadcast)

Didn’t someone do a speed corrected version so the songs don’t sound like that? Not that it matters if LR is getting rid of the Rain stuff

For those interested here are two versions that I picked up quite a few years ago. The longer European version (MP3 format) and the shorter version (AVI format).

I will have a go at dubbing some of the songs and post the results.

Oh, should I dub The Boston Show Band's version of Love Me Tender onto Stu's solo spot? :lol:
