Hated by Ringo, sued by Apple Corps. here is Beatlemania The Movie. This film is based on the Broadway Production which ran from 1977 - 1979. I remember renting the VHS in early 1988. I wasn't bowled over due to the annoying and mostly irrelevant footage thrown in. They do however do a good job on the songs and I've always enjoyed their performance of A Day In The Life.

So with the caveat that you know what this is, enjoy!

If we ever need an example of the wheels of justice running over the innocent victim, ANYTHING related to the Mitch Weissman version of BEATLEMANIA cast will suffice. I have always marveled at the fact that these four guys actually played Beatles songs as well(or, better) than The Beatles. GOD Damn! How much discipline and time were required to secure the role? And, WHEN do we get paid? Can that much dedication ever pay enough?
OF COURSE NOT! Madness, mayhem and I just saw Mitch McCartney on YouTube the other day and it's been a long time unwinding from the 2 year run...
Money, money, money?
Say a prayer for the dying radio star!
Erase, erase, erase, THAT Song!
What more's the pity...is that the play wouldn't survive 2 days today.
So, it would pay even less.
And, McCartney's critics would slag Weissman for not being left-handed.
Like I said, "thank you, for cleaning the seeds out of your marijuana before rolling your joints"!
Forgive their motivations...they weren't paid enough.
Thank you, cliftdean74!

I remember going to see this production at The Shubert in LA in early 1978. I loved the show, which was how it was meant to be seen. As a movie, however, it definitely did not translate to the big screen. So..not.

While covers acts have been around for many many years (Blue Swede, Sha Na Na, William Shatner,) Beatlemania was one of the first tribute bands to make it really really big. There was a band called Rain which was featured at many Beatlefests since the late 1970's. Former members of Beatlemania have made up this band since the 1980's, essentially elevating that group internationally. Tribute bands started to come into their own in the mid-80's with the emergence of Wild Child (The Doors.)

Anyone remember any tribute bands which were playing in the mid-late 1970's? (Besides Elvis...)
