What happened to George's Rickenbacker 425 guitar?

Post by Lord Reith »

I'd always wondered why he used it so briefly. It's seen in Ready Steady Go where he proudly states he'd just bought it, and then after that it vanishes without trace!

Reading that book about 1963 it says it was stolen from a car outside a gig. If this is true, was it ever recovered or is someone sitting on a priceless bit of memorabilia, too afraid to say so?

Given to George Peckham, cutting engineer and a (non-original) member of The Fourmost. Sold at auction a few years back

Isn’t there a blurry photo somewhere of John actually using the 425 for a show in the UK??

Okay, so the fan must have got caught, or given it back.

Thinking about it, a 14 year old kid suddenly arrives home with an expensive American import guitar. Her parents are going to want to know where she got that huh?
