The reason I don't trust sealed lps (or anything else for that matter) is because it's dead easy to buy a shrink-wrap machine.
You always see second hand stuff being sold on Ebay as "NEW" just because someone has put shrink wrap on it. I don't know how they can get away with it.
Getting back to the point, I always put my records in those clear vinyl sleeves, although even those can be bad I hear. can't say I've had any problems though. If you leave them out in the open air the sleeves are prone to getting bookworm, or just covered in dust. I used to hate it when you'd go through somebody's lp collection and the records would be all clammy and dusty. Yech.
