Is this one of them? I really like the strings on this!

No, that's the released version. The acetate we're discussing is of an earlier version with different musicians.

So it's not a 'very rare early version'?

I'm not sure how many helped get this acetate. Never knew one from tape source was shared. As far as I know this was one of a very few audio that has not been leaked online!

This is the first version as first disseminated in the podcast where Peter Asher was being interviewed. That's side 1 of the acetate but from tape source and from an mp3 of that. You can hear some room sound at the very beginning.

I was part of that fund-drive several years ago and have Mojo's files (which I'll hold onto under the circumstances, and thanks again Mojo for your work on these).
HOWEVER, I see these full acetates were released on "Complete Recording Sessions-coltturkey" in 2017 and 1-minute samples were released on "What's In The Bag (Volume II)".
Also, somebody mashed the two versions together in a single track in 2019 or before.
Finally, The Beatnix did a cover version...

Re: Peter & Gordon - Woman (unreleased version acetate)
I have always said (to myself, mostly) that after files leave my modem on the way to the internet, I have no control over what happens to them. If somebody pirates them, I can't do anything about it. If somebody pirates material that I have made, I can only be happy that the end user has the best version of it that I could possibly make, using the most knowledge I had acquired up until that time. If he had to pay money to hear that stuff, I can't be angry about it. I can be glad that he got the best I was able to offer at the time.

Man, it's so shitty that people will pay for this kinda stuff just to hold on to it themselves and not share it.

Re: Peter & Gordon - Woman (unreleased version acetate)
That's why I started this thread. I didn't contribute any money to the purchase of this disc. If people are going to think I'm a douchebag for posting stuff that no one is ever going to hear otherwise, I'm not posting it. That's why I asked for opinions. I'd like to be the guy who turned everyone on to this amazing remix. But I didn't help pay for it. If the people who did contribute object, then who am I to go against their wishes?

It's your choice, I'm sure we would all love to hear it, but you're within your right not to share it if you feel like you made any promise or have any obligations to the group who bought it.
But from what it sounds like, the people who bought it are a bunch of hoarders who don't deserve pity for the audio leaking.
