Harald Gernhardt CDROM
Harald Gernhardt's Beatle Pages CDROM
Period of 1994-1999
arwork included
==================
from back artwork:
==================
Contents:
The entire website (from the 1994-1999 time frame) of Harald Gernhardt Beatle PAges and PLUGGED - the unofficial Paul McCartney homepage on CDROM, for convenient and quick off-line access - without an internet connection.
PLUS
exclusive bonus material:
over 8.5 hours of Beatles interviews (in mp3 format, CD quality)
a wide range of video files (RealVideo, Quicktime and MPEG)
=========================
from readme file on cdrom
=========================
Installation:
-------------
Most users will not have to install anything to use this CD-ROM
- a web browser is necessary but you will already have one installed.
You can access the information using either of these ways:
a)automatically: If you still have "auto insert notification" switched
on, the CD-ROM will automatically launch your browser and come up with
an index.
b)double-click the "index.html" file in the root directory of the CD-ROM
c)launch your web browser and use the file/open menu to manually load
the index.html file into your browser.
Bonus items:
In order to play all of them, certain players are required. Windows98
(in some countries only) should have them all pre-installed.
For Windows 95 users, it is recommended to install the "Microsoft
Media Player", which is the file mpfull.exe in the software directory.
It will play the mp3 audio files as well as many popular multimedia
files, and it will boost the multimedia capabilities of Windows95
to the level of Windows98.
However, you can of course use any of your favorite players, like
Winamp (for mp3), too.
Bonus items and browser:
Netscape will always load the multimedia files entirely from the CD-ROM,
save it to a temporary directory, and then launch the player. This takes
time and fills up your harddisk. Upon exiting Netscape, this space will
be freed again. Still, things take much longer than they should. Netscape
users should launch the music files from the CD-ROM directly, and not
from within Netscape, if time and harddisk space are a concern.
Microsoft Internet Explorer as well as Opera (my favorite browser!) will
correctly launch the player right away, and the player will stream the
multimedia file from the CD-ROM immediately.
ENJOY, this has probably become a relic now!!

Thanks Mrbeatleg, I have a version of this site labeled 10/96 (maybe a site-suck?) but yours seems much more complete.

Re: Harald Gernhardt CDROM
I do have the original CD Rom purchased from Harald Gerhardt for the princely sum of £15 p&p
It remains one of my prized possessions as it introduced me to the stuff that is out there if we search for it.
NTL - penny per minute, torrents, limewire, napster, grooveshark etc
It was all a labour of love - today it is much easier but oh so much more rewarding.
Thank you Harald!

Many thanks for the re-upload. I have a bunch of Harald Gernhardt pages saved as "html", "mht" and "complete web page" from around 1999/2000, when I first got online via a dial up connection. I was astounded at the amount of information and repositories that were available on the net then, but when you compare to what it is now, its literally A DIFFERENT WORLD, (which pretty much describes how I feel on most interactions with much of society/humanity these days, lol).
Thank you again for the kindess,
regards
Beezer
