BBC Radio Fragments Vol.07

1963.12.13 Any Questions (Light Programme)
- with Isobel Barnett, Ian Mikardo, Sir Learie Constantine, John Grigg, Freddy Grisewood. The majority of this one consists of a discussion about pre-marital sex.

1964.01.10 News (Light Programme)
- Riots in Panama, Welsh steel dispute, Submarine Tiptoe refloated, French VTOL jet crashed, weather forecast, then the start of Tonight's Topic (with David Holden)

1964.03.22 Eurovision winners - Pick of The Pops (Light Programme)
- Alan Freeman plays the top 3 winning Eurovision songs from the previous evenings Eurovision Song Contest
- (3rd place) Romuald - Où sont-elles passées (Monaco)
- (2nd place) Matt Monro - I Love the Little Things (UK)
- (Winner) Gigliola Cinquetti - Non ho l'età (Italy)

1964.05.21 Passing Examinations- talk by H.O.Emerson (Home Service)

1964.11.19 Top Gear + Music From Midnight
- The very end of 'Top Gear' with Brian Matthew. He mentions The Beatles are on next week. I'd love to find a Beatles BBC session on reel but this is the closest I've got.
- The start of 'Music From Midnight' with Bruce Wyndham
-- Ken Barry And The Barrytones - Happiness
-- Gene Pitney - I'm Gonna Be Strong
-- Patsy Ann Noble - So Tied Up With Mary (Session. Annoyingly the tape cut off after 32 sec)

1965.03.27 Profiles In Courage - John Adams (BBC2 TV)
- Another not so great attempt at recording from the tv, with some hiss & crackle

1966.02.14-18 Housewives Choice - Kenneth Horne
(People may know Kenneth Horne from the comedy show 'Round The Horne'.)
- Cyril Smith & Phyllis Sellick - Bees Wedding (Mendelsohn)
- Peggy Lee - Hey There
- Robert Delgado & His Orchestra - The Percolator
- Kenneth McKellar - Mattinata
- ? - A Foggy Day (instrumental)

Demonstration Reel
- Recorded sometime in the late 50's or early 60's. This reel was made by a guy who I believe probably worked at the BBC in the recording department from the early 50's up until at least 1977. We hear him speak in the intro of this recording. All of the best, clearest recordings in this set were recorded by him. Based on other recordings I think he maybe lived in or near Worthing. I just don't know his name.

BONUS - The taper at home listening to opera on the radio. Then he turns it off and reads some programme listings from the Radio Times for 1964.10.26. You even hear his wife speak in the background.

We all appreciate these so much! I still have difficulty coming to grips with the idea I live in the distant future, so hearing these is very comforting.
