I'm always amazed to see early photos of the group and see how young they were. Do you think this was in their Japage3 days?
Yeah going by John's guitar I'd say this is literally just after George joined.
When you look at how young Paul seems and consider that he had known John for a fair length of time before introducing George, the reality of the J-P meeting at St Johns fete in 1957 really hits home. Paul must have appeared to be nothing more than a little kid to John, who at 16 already looked at least 20. This is probably why no-one else remembers anything about the meeting.

That seems to be the Russian version! Here is (perhaps?) the original:
"John and the neighborhood kids..."
Yeah, I just mopped out the other guy. Is that Nigel Walley?
No, it's George's mate Arthur Kelly. It was taken in Speke Secondary School in Liverpool, circa early 1958 and according to drummer Colin Hanton's book it was George's first gig. Colin Hanton was present but sulking off to the side because he didn't have the cowboy shirt. This is the same cowboy shirt Paul wears in the April 1969 photos to promote Get Back and Ballad of John and Yoko.
The lad stood between Paul and George is Ivan Vaughan. That's Ivan's house "Vega" behind George on Vale Road, Woolton, Liverpool. 'Vega' backed on to John's house 'Mendips'. Even now, after all these years, it still backs on to 'Mendips'.
