Nice! I would have completely missed this. I’ve been so busy being back at work I haven’t listened to anything all week on the channel.

Peter's own group was actually considered BIGGER than the Beatles in the U.S. in 1965

The way '60s music (in the U.S.) was really ranked (during the Beatle period)....when it happened:

1964: Beatles
1965: Herman's Hermits
1966: Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass
1967: Monkees
1968: Simon & Garfunkel
1969: Fifth Dimension
1970: Creedence Clearwater Revival

(1971: Three Dog Night; 1972: Three Dog Night)

The top biggest-selling albums of the Sixties (in America) were: The Sound of Music soundtrack; Herb Alpert's Whipped Cream & Other Delights; and a comedy record by a guy named Vaughn Meader satirizing the Kennedys, called The First Family.

YESTERDAY was the biggest Beatle hit of 1965 that got played-to-death...even though TICKET TO RIDE and HELP! are far far better.
