The YouTube clip has nothing to do with the IMAX release, it is just trying to gather more viewers for the 3 part series. As for PG-13 - it says the rating on all Disney + films. Why would they use split screen on IMAX - basically a square format image - you would have even bigger black bars top and bottom !

If it’s an advert for the whole series then why is it only mentioning the rooftop?? I don’t have high hopes unfortunately for an alternate viewing experience…however the description for the video mentions nothing about the theatrical releaseExDalek wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 10:13 pm The YouTube clip has nothing to do with the IMAX release, it is just trying to gather more viewers for the 3 part series. If the IMAX screen is square we might... gasp... get the full 4:3 image.

Ha! That was me testing you. You passed.beatlesondvd wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 11:05 amPresumably, you meant James Cameron. Otherwise, I can see how asking Ridley Scott would create some kind of delay.Lord Reith wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 10:32 am just ask anyone who has been waiting 10 years for Ridley Scott to approve the HD master of The Abyss.

That's what I'd hoped, but in these digital days, there are two IMAX aspect ratios. Both use a standard 4K D-Cinema projector with a 1.9:1 ratio (4096x2160). Most digital IMAX venues show in that ratio (which is very close to the 1.85 ratio Jackson used for GET BACK). If they show it in that format, then it would be very simple to just show the TV version, but blown up and further processed by the IMAX DMX noise-reduction process. There would be a different audio mix, though.Lord Reith wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:39 am If the IMAX screen is square we might... gasp... get the full 4:3 image.
To replicate the original 1.43:1 ratio of 15/70 film IMAX, some venues use an anamorphic lens to stretch the 1.9 image vertically to be 1.43 (and of course, the source image there has been anamorphically compressed so that the 1.4 image is geometrically correct). There is no more detail, it's just stretched vertically.
I don't know which way these IMAX GET BACK screenings will be shown. My money's on 1.9, and likely just a further processed version of what we've seen. We'll find out in a week and a half.

Exactly. The IMAX ticket is like 60% of the Blu Ray cost.FileUnderT wrote: ↑Sat Jan 22, 2022 10:00 amJust buy it and watch it at home as often as you want.......Fun 4 None wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 4:13 pmThey lost me when I realized it costs 26 dollars a person.
