BDJ's Guide to Get Back

Post by BDJ »

One of the enduring questions is when certain shots in the film are taken. The 1970 Film alternates shots from various days and various locations. Peter Jackson has said in interviews that he will show developments chronologically, from day to day.
To make it easy for the viewer to determine the date of filming, we have analysed the clothing of the 4 Beatles, Billy Preston and Yoko Ono. On each day of shooting the film, they wore a unique combination of clothes, so the date of film can be unambiguously determined.

Furthermore, to find out what's new and what's old, we have listed the songs that featured in the 1970 film and those performed on the rooftop.

Finally, some words on the instruments and amplifiers; where has Paul's 1961 Hofner bass gone?

Thanks for this.

What we need now is a similar table for the 8 hour GB series.

One of my biggest complaints about this series, is that even
if the daily segments are chronological,
within each day, it seems to be a real jumble.
Performances are hardly complete and all mixed up relative to the order played.

I think this gives a completely false impression of what went on.
It would seem these guys had severe ADHD and couldn't concentrate for more than 30 s
and then magically complete well polished versions appear.

Instead, listening to the tapes (NBS or PC), they played these damn songs over and over and over again.
That's how they got good. Sure they took breaks to goof around and play oldies, but
the series puts more of that than the hard work that they really put into it.

I realize no-one but members here would want to sit through that (though I'd probably watch 100 hours worth (not at one sitting))
and the oldies and goofing around is more fun to watch,
but at least the bits could have been in order played and some practices made more complete.

Working on the table for PJ film, watch this space!

Putting things in order is complicated, because the audio and video don't always come from the same moment. PJ actually tells us this at the start of the film; there's just a lot more audio then video available..

That will be great.
I'm very interested in that, particularly because they jump around so much.
