Thanks!
Makes me wonder why so many are so interested, though (they're virtually identical)...

Great share!
And think back to the time when Glyn had to deal with a huge pile of the actual physical tapes working "blind" as it were, unlike today where they could all be loaded into a DAW and compared/comped/edited/mastered visually. Can you imagine tackling that project in 1969-70?

Re: For You Blue [69-L 70-R]
Although I like the Get Back album, I can also see why the Beatles didn't like it, because he chose incomplete or unfinished versions of the songs. Really, compiling the album should have beena cinch: all they had to do was choose the best takes from the last two days of recording (the rooftop and apple studio performance). They were by far the best and most polished sounding versions of all those songs. But on Get Back Glyn seems to have gone for rough takes rather than finished ones. The Long And Winding Road is particularly scrappy sounding, with the organ solo entirely missing, some out of tune singing and a very loose performance from everyone. I've Got A Feeling is missing some important guitar riffs and the ending, Don't Let Me Down is more like a run-through and Save The Last Dance For Me ranks as possibly the worst and least tuneful singing they ever put to tape. I suppose Glyn was trying to create a rough sounding album, but I think John was essentially right to call it garbage because it was not anywhere up to The Beatles usual standards. That doesn't mean Glyn's engineering was garbage, but that the performances were probably not the ones he should have chosen for an album by the most famous band in the world. On the other hand, taking a couple of days in the studio to select and tidy up the best of the final two days recordings would have yielded a very professional and commercial sounding album, without any need for strings!alphabeatles wrote: ↑Sat Oct 30, 2021 6:47 pm Great share!

Re: For You Blue [69-L 70-R]
Thanks for sharing Beatles4you, but I apologize for my ignorance.
I think my ears suck, I can't tell the difference in George's vocals in the mixes of '69 and '70, could someone please explain?
And what other differences do we have in the 1969 and 1970 mixes?
Again I apologize for the lack of knowledge on this subject.
