I just learned of this minutes ago, and I'm kind of in shock. I used to play bass in a band that did a bunch of ZZ Top covers. I studied Dusty's playing to learn how to play economically but effectively. Dusty was 72, and died in his sleep, having had health problems for some time. I watched him play from about 20 feet away in a concert here before the pandemic. They were supposed to have come here about a year before that, but Dusty couldn't tour because he was ill.
ZZ Top is one of only a small number of artists where I have everything in their catalogues. Gonna play "Lowdown In The Street" now.

I know, it’s a little surreal… spent most of my life with ZZ Top contributing to the soundtrack. Great memories, RIP Dusty.
