I REALLY hate to do this to the forum but.....
I am on a Harry Nilsson kick and am looking for the best sounding version of "A Toot and A Snore in '74" tapes. What you got?

I've never been brave enough to go near it. John's other Harry Nilsson jam tape was bad enough.

It's unlistenable. Give me the 1960 rehearsal tapes any day.

It has all the material from A Toot and a Snore in '74 plus some other collaborations with Harry. I can't find the other jam with Paul Simon and others but hopefully somebody else has it?
My full name is Uncle Capt. "Skipper" Dumbchops and I seem to have misplaced my electric pretzel sharpener.

HMC's 1974 LA Jam sessions is the only one worth listening to, its the most complete one

I think that the only track who has its magic is "Nightmares" (my love) aka Footsteps. John's voice is good, and does not sound totally plastered like the rest of the "gig".Lord Reith wrote: ↑Fri Jun 24, 2022 6:52 am I've never been brave enough to go near it. I think that John changed the lyrics because of the Shangri-Las song (I think the title of this lovely song was "Goodnight (or Goodbye) my love".
The rest of the lyrics are totally ad-libs and John's trademark Brandy Alexander.
But as soon as John's vocals are joined by Paul (who seems to like this number); John stops this impromptu song and what to go in another Stand By Me infamous cover...

I thought their run-through of "Lucille" together was enough of a highlight. I can understand why "Artifacts III" chose that one over the other "Snore" tracks.

I have listened to Lucille and stand by me a few times and only once to the other songs. Lucille is very rough but I’m glad to have. As for stand by me, I made my own simple version to make it listenable.
I will try to listen to nightmares some time.
I know May Pang once said that they also performed Midnight Special but that never surfaced. Maybe it wasn’t recorded.
