Thoughts on Twickenham comp for my personal expanded LIB SDE?

Post by batdude98 »

Hi all. trying to come up with a best of the Twickenham Sessions to slot as Disc 9 of my LIB set and having trouble rolling my own - here's the provisional list:

"We're Going To Tape The Beatles" (Speech/Mono) - 0:08
Paul's Piano Piece - 3:01
Ringo's Rag - ?
Taking A Trip To Carolina/Picasso - ~1:00
Two Of Us (Fast) - 2:55
Don't Let Me Down (Hard Jam) - 3:06
"Good Morning!" (Speech/Mono) - 0:04
I've Got A Feeling (Manic Version) - 3:38
One After 909 (Run-Through) - 2:45
Lennon-McCartney’s 1950s Songbook (Twickenham) - 5:29
Cannonball/Not Fade Away/Hey Little Girl/Bo Diddley - 3:49
Suzy's Parlour -1:58
Get Back (No Pakistanis) -3:03
Maxwell's Silver Hammer (Whistling Take) - 2:06
Talkin' Bout You/George Quits - 3:00
A Quick One - 2:00
Wild Ono Jam - 5:03
Another Day/Castle Of The King Of The Birds (Demo) - 2:32
Isn't It A Pity (George's Demo) - 2:58
Across The Universe (Harmony Version) - 3:10
"Shocktric Shocks" (Speech/Mono) - 0:20
Hear Me Lord (Electric Demo) - 2:16
Oh! Darling (Paul's Solo Performance) - 4:18

Are there any boots that compile something like this? Any changes you'd suggest?

All the best,

Right off the bat, I'd use the Nagras to seek out complete versions of the songs/takes that were used/excerpted in the "Let It Be" film, thus giving yourself an actual soundtrack/songtrack. I would then grab the complete version of Mailman Blues, given its notoriety (Sessions, Anthology, etc). Anything else is up to you, but the group run of All Things Must Pass (the take used on Artifacts II) is a good pick, as is Paul singing I'm So Tired. There's also a Twickenham version of Midnight Special that was recorded in true stereo (a rare occurrence for the Nagras).

There was a set on the old BZ called Nagra Gold. It was a split between Twickenham and Apple. The person who compiled it took away the beeps and the slate/roll call outs.

I don’t have it in flac, but I’m sure someone does.
