Re: ABBEY ROAD SOURCE SHOOTOUT!!!

Well, they sound so similar to my ears today I'm not gonna declare which is definitely better. I just know that when I first got the Toshiba disc 20 years ago (thanks Luke) and played on a real CD player that actually decodes (as opposed to EQing the WAV in a DAW) I thought the bass on Toshiba was m...

Re: Jerry & Gary Lewis sing "Help" on Hullabaloo (1965)

It's my understanding Jerry Lewis kept his video recordings so they may all still exist and maybe even copies of other shows .

Unfortunately they all have Jerry Lewis who is unfunny and unwatchable IMO.

The guests are what is important.

Re: "Australian" version of "I Want To Hold Your Hand"

Well there ya go there was 2.7k hump added for the defacto stereo master as I've said for years now. Also looks like they dialed back the 10k. Those bumps might actually be much more narrow if they used the "presence box" and simply re-dubbed the original stereo master through the desk and...

Re: The 1992 CD EP box

My understanding was that the EP box had been transferred from lower generation tapes than the singles box... but my memory is that both sets sounded excellent. As Hoffman would point out, a good mastering of a 2nd gen source can beat a poor mastering of a 1st gen source. Just listen to the origina...

Re: Stupid question, apologies

I've been downloading the terrific remixes of various Beatles albums and songs - I love this board! Anyway, I see that some links have an expiration date on them, why is that? Just interested, that's all. Cheers. :) PS: Apologies if this has been answered in another post. They are free hosting site...

Re: The 1992 CD EP box

This release contained only 3 EPS as a special release? Mike The CD EP box has all the British Beatles EPs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_EP_Collection I just picked those three because certain songs have great sound and so people could compare with the 2009 remasters. Also it's been ou...

The 1992 CD EP box

In 1992 EMI released a CD version of the late 1981 EP box. Apparently this release was ignored or dismissed as redundant by most fans. What is desirable about the CD release is that mastering is often superior to what was done in 1986/1987 of the same material. Although most of the EPs are 2nd gen t...
