Re: simple (I hope!) q re mixing 5.1 separations to stereo

Easiest would be to set Audacity to rip to stereo.

Re: Red & Blue Albums

I can still remember when I reluctantly forked out my pocket money in 1981 for LP1 from "The Beatles Box Set From Liverpool" because it contained a stereo mix of She Loves You. No, really! On the back it said "ALL TRACKS STEREO EXCEPT (*) MONO" Of course, it actually didn't, it'...

Re: Peter Jackson and MAL audio question

The guitar was recorded on the same track as the tambourine and some vocals. This left another track with nothing but vocals. That last track would be an excellent 'feed' for MAL.

Re: Red & Blue Albums

Thanks. So what LR meant to say that he heard a 1.3 second wobble, not a 1.3 Hz wobble. A Hertz is a measurement of frequency, so 1Hz is one oscillation per second. 1.3 Hz is 1.3 oscillations per second, that of a 45rpm record with an off centre hole. According to track06, 45 rpm corresponds with 0...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

I checked the Heineken version of She Loves You. Subtracting L from R gave me this:

You can see the edits as spikes. For some reason they are all ca 1 second earlier than other versions, so probably a quicker start.

Re: Red & Blue Albums

45 rotations per minute means one rotation takes 60/45 (~1.3) seconds, that beeing 45/60(0.75)Hz. You don't end up with a signal at that frequency, but you will alternatingly end up with the groove passing the stylus too quick/too slow resulting in all frequencies modulating at that rate by an amou...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

Just trying to understand; how do you get from a 1.3 Hz wobble to 45 rpm? :?:

Re: Red & Blue Albums

Thanks. I'm really still talking about true stereo mixes, as mixes with centred vocals (based on the 4-track). But that's not on the Heineken either, I replied specifically to your statement " The only complete true stereo release I know of is the 'Heineken' release. " while the elephant ...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

The Anthology DVD doesn't have the Intro, and doesn't have the Outtro either. It very much does, it even has studio chatter before the take... Are we talking the same thing here? The Anthology DVD's included those tracks as separate feature content, so by mentioning 'the Anth DVD remix' we don't me...

Re: Red & Blue Albums

I think you would agree that there is no mix anywhere with centred vocals based on the 4-track? Only 'MAL demixed' versions? No actually it appears with centred vocals on the Anthology dvd. They talk at the very end, but otherwise it's a good mix. They probably received an entire master set from an...
