Re: Whatever became of EMI tape dispute?

I suspect that they are hoping Apple offer them a ridiculous amount for it - Think they will be disapointed.

Re: Whatever became of EMI tape dispute?

Retroactive laws are the scourge of democracy. Let's turn honest people into criminals by overiding the laws in the past. Great idea. I agree, but suspect in this case it's pretty much unenforceable provided you remove the items from sale. Broadcasts are now the only thing that goes out of copyrigh...

Re: Whatever became of EMI tape dispute?

So, could the tape (minus Besame Mucho which was used on Anthology) technically be released in some countries since it is unreleased material not used in the 50 year window? No because of the new addition to the law which protects unreleased material recorded after June 1957 until 1989. Warner (and...

Re: Whatever became of EMI tape dispute?

these are both wrong. The rules are 1. A recording gains a copyright for 50 years after its released, assuming that release is within 50 years of it's recording 2. A song gains a copyright for the lifetime of it's writer, plus 80 years So, "Love Me Do" will become public domain ini the ea...

Re: Whatever became of EMI tape dispute?

Does the tape fall under the rule that if an outtake is not used in 50 years it can't be copyrighted? The law appears to have been changed - with absolutely no publicity. That rule is now only in place for broadcasts and recordings made before June 1957 (interestingly, around the date of the Quarry...

Re: Dolly Parton´s "Let it be", with Paul and Ringo

Paul is obviously there - heavily autotuned, but It doesn't sound like Ringo drumming, it sounds more like Mick Fleetwood who is also on the track. and Frampton? What's he doing - I'm assuming the Guitar solo, but who knows. Maybe it's just Ringo on tambourine!

Re: Ready Steady Go! (almost complete)

It was available to pre-order until 4th August. At which point it was taken off sale even if all 300 hadn't been sold. I don't believe they were. I've read that Kaleidoscope said sales were disappointing. I think the £75 price tag put many off.

Re: Must be time for a Rubber Soul SDE leak about now...

the remixes of sgt. pepper or white album are so la la. thats a matter of fact. Actually, I think you will find it's a matter of opinion, not fact. Any mix or remaster is subjective. Firstly, it is pretty much impossible to replicate exactly and in ALL cases it's a matter of taste, the taste of the...

Re: Peter Jackson and The Star Club Tapes.

The original would probably play fine if it were baked first. It could also be cleaned with isoprople alcohol. I have a machine which is like a video cassette rewinder and cleans a videotape, so don't see why it wouldn't work for audio. You can't do that with this tape. It may even be acetate based...

Re: Peter Jackson and The Star Club Tapes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lX7APimce14 This is where the original Star Club rumour comes from in the first place. You can tell he would want the original master to work from - which Apple DON'T have. Larry still has it. Just because he says he wants to do it, doesn't mean it's actually happeni...
