Re: Why didn't John play on George's later songs?

Don't forget that both John and George are sometimes barely on some of macca's late 60s extravaganzas. They might get to rattle a tambourine or sing a harmony if they're lucky. I think John was less sure of what he wanted, or at least how to achieve it, so was happy for everybody to chip in and play...

Re: Why didn't John play on George's later songs?

I imagine it was because he didn't like them very much. He already had to learn a lot of Paul songs he didn't like because there was no way out of it, and having to learn a bunch of George songs as well was asking too much. He probably just thought they weren't as good as his and Paul's songs.

Re: Best Youtube converter/downloader "A must have question"

I still can't get anything above 50kb/s with any downloader. Youtube-dl doesn't even work anymore for me, just gives an error message with youtube.

Re: Long Long Long (George & guitar) / I'll Be Back / Run For Your Life

Thanks guys. Great version of RFYL. Was this the guide vocal that used to be buried in the mix? Thanks LR and looking forward to the next one. Yes, rescued from the bass guitar track where it can be heard very faintly. A mix with half of that vocal was aired on the LLT but it didn't sound as good so...

Run For Your Life (alt vocal)

Glad people are enjoying them. Here is another, Run for Your Life with a completely different vocal from John. It seems he was trying to emulate "Baby let's Play House" with the slapback echo on his voice, having pinched the opening lyric from that song. This was partially aired in The Los...

Re: Long Long Long (George & guitar) / I'll Be Back (single tracked)

Here now is something that I don't think has been shared before: a single tracked vocal for I'll Be Back. On the record it is triple tracked, something they didn't do very often (Matchbox and Because are the only ones that come to mind). I love John's plaintive voice especially on the bridge passage...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)

Hot of the press...365 different coloured editions in the pipeline, one for each day of the year. The manufacturers are seeking advice from MPL on how to market this successfully. HOWEVER, an "insider" has said that this is just a delaying tactic to keep interest in the set alive because ...

Re: Terry Heneberry RIP

It would have been a major undertaking to do that show. It needed selection and planning of guest artists, sequencing, editing etc. I imagine it would have been quite stressful, that sense of "what are we recording at this session and are we going to get it all in the can in two hours?"
