Re: Big Night In
Mike and Bernie Winters were always a second rate Morecambe & Wise Lol. there's a story (don't know if it's true) but Morecambe and Wise were on a chat show and the host asked them what they would have been if they weren't comedians and Eric Morecambe replied "Mike and Bernie Winters".

Re: The animals' rendition of My favourite Things
and talking of birds (!) here's David Crosby describing seeing the Coltrane Quartet at a club date in the US.
Elvin Jones, the Quartet's drummer (and a big influence on Mitch Mitchell) has just started a solo and Croz is extremely stoned...

Re: The animals' rendition of My favourite Things
For anyone who's interested, this is a stunning version of My Favourite Things by the John Coltrane Quartet with Eric Dolphy. I first heard this over 40 years ago (thanks Dad) and it's mind blowing. At 7.55 ish. Dolphy comes in. It's already got fairly far out in places, Trane has taken it to the ed...

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 15, 14 update.)
The Billy J Kramer version of My Babe sounds as if it was recorded after Mick Green jumped ship from Johnny Kidd and the Pirates. Compare the Johnny Kidd tracks on HAHBS08 with the Dakotas tracks on the new HAHBS14. Also check out The Pirates (minus Johnny Kidd) version of My Babe on YouTube. Good ...

Re: The Stones And Brian Jones
Ken I believe that it will already be out there but under its correct title; I read about it in a Record Collector article but it was over 20 years ago and I’ve retained neither the magazine nor 20/20 memory of what the actual track was. All I recall is that the article was focussed on Brian and th...

Re: The Stones And Brian Jones
It’s a good documentary, already bootlegged by FAB. Jones was an interesting character, really driven as far as the blues goes. You can see how his look inspired a whole host of sixties bands, particularly in the USA - just look at the Byrds when they first started out. Lennon claimed to have pulle...

Mr Bathtubes was gainfully employed on a variety of shows - Saturday Club, Top Gear, Top Of The Pops (trans. disc series), Easy Beat for the BBC plus Thank Your Lucky Stars (ITV series) and a number of Radio Luxembourg series. The good thing with transcription service discs TOTP or POTP for your DJ...
