Re: The Beatles In Portland - The Complete Story 2 DVD set

I'm very puzzled by this request. The poster asks where to get this, and links to the very site from which it can be purchased. Seems as though the poster has answered the question posed in that post. Have you tried emailing the person who made the documentary, at the email address listed, to see if...

New Abbey Road Studios Documentary

A new documentary about Abbey Road Studios is premiering at the Telluride Film Festival on Sunday. It's called "If These Walls Could Sing," and was directed by Mary McCartney, who will be at the festival for the screenings. I hope it's a good and informative work. That studio has a very in...

Re: Surprised Shea Stadium 2016 Hasn't Been Leaked !

Yes, I bought a copy of that official Super-8 home film. It was about ten minutes of selected scenes. Being a poor teenager, I could only afford the silent black and white version (it has subtitles for the dialogue!). There were also color/silent and color/sound versions, but those were way out of m...

Re: Cinelogue 1-6 CBM (1974...)

I strongly suspect that they're recordings of 16mm prints of the movies (except maybe for LET IT BE, which I think would more likely be from a TV broadcast). It's been ages since I heard any of these specific boots, but if I had a listen, I could probably say with reasonable certainty. The movies co...

I also have done my best to archive released clips of the remaster. I actually tracked down and found an Australian StudioCanal promo which no one had seen before, and posted it to my channel. Thank you for doing that! Some things do get used for promotional reasons and get out to the public that w...

Re: Concert at Budokan 1966 DVD (VAP LaserDisc) +

It's hard to really tell the quality of the material based on a camera pointed at a smaller image being played. It looks good, but the only way to really tell would be to see the full-screen image at actual resolution. 3/4" U-Matic was a professional format, so transfers from that tape are like...

That material was only released for showing in cinemas. D-Cinema Packages (DCP) are encrypted. The decryption keys are issued for the specific player in the cinema and are valid only for a limited time (often less than a week, sometimes as little as a few hours). You can have the DCP, but without a ...

Re: The Beatles - Yellow Submarine (Open Matte LaserDisc)

As a little side note, there was also a very small non-theatrical market, in which people could rent 16mm copies of movies to screen for organizations or at home. Those would have been full-frame reduction prints, and shown full-frame, since 16mm didn't have the ability to properly mask prints for p...

Re: The Beatles - Yellow Submarine (Open Matte LaserDisc)

Exactly. In some ways it's more a nostalgia thing, or the desire to see what's familiar after decades of watching improperly transferred open-matte versions. This also reflects the pervasive home-video-centered view that I think a lot of people fall into, maybe without realizing it. The reality is t...
