Mal for Get Back BD?

I have a nice once-read copy of the Mal Evans book…I don’t really need to read it again, so I’d like to see if anyone would like it in exchange for a Blu-ray of Peter Jackson’s Get Back. Used is fine as long as it plays well.

PM me if interested.

Re: Revolution of Love

Any chance you could add in backing vocals from the TV versions?

I’ve been dreaming about having a hi-fi version like that forever!

Re: Most Underrated Beatleg?

I'd say The Beatles Versus Don Ho . It has everything that made old Beatlegs so great. Like the White Album it is an eclectic late night FM radio experience, swinging wildly between many interesting and funny themes. It has comedy, education, rarities and Don Ho! What more could you ask for? Same g...

Re: What I want in '24

A big triple album set of cleaned-up January '69 songs, for listening pleasure only. Edits and remixing are fine--basically, I just want a whole new Beatles album I can throw on for listening enjoyment! (None of this "oh no, somebody edited an incomplete rehearsal--butchery!" nonsense.) 2n...

Ah: I meant the forum rather than the magazine. Last I saw it was a fiver to get in. I hopped out years ago due to too much snottiness and negativity. YMMV, of course.

What do s the latest/greatest complete set of Get Back recordings?

Purple Chick used to be the go-to, but that has surely become outdated over time.

Is there a new definitive go-to set for all of January ‘69?

Re: Have you ever met a Beatle or a Beatle kid? Please share your experiences!

Met Laurence Juber and his wife at a friend’s party—he’d been doing music for an NBCP show my friend was writing for. Ran into them both at Hugo’s in Studio City some time later, and saw him by himself once at Guitar Center in Sherman Oaks, though we didn’t talk then. Both were super nice and friend...

Re: Ken Womack’s book on Mal Evans

One other point: he goes into more detail about how scary the 65-66 tours got. Don’t think I ever read anything else quite that intense about it. Annnnnnd…there’s a cassette of Mal on the receiving end of some fun that his kids unfortunately got ahold of. Doubt this will be making the Mal bootlegs r...

Re: Ken Womack’s book on Mal Evans

Just finished reading it—pretty good, a page-turner for sure, only a couple of minor quibbles and a couple bigger ones. Minor: some things get out of order, like talking about final Abbey Road acetates before the album is finished recording. Also the use of the phrase “just deserts”—TWICE! You mean ...
