Re: Yellow Matter Custard (stereo)

Ditto. One of the first bootlegs I ever got, though I had no idea it was BBC at the time.

I am sorely tempted to go and chop the end off of "I Got A Woman" on your new mix, LR. I listened to that LP so many times, it still never sounds right with the tag on that song. :D

Yes, that's a bootleg.

Re: Harry And His Box Set (V1, 2 update.)

RE: whack-a-mole Well, part of the pleasure is in the hunt. I remember when I was collecting Beatle cards many years ago. I'd find a few missing ones at each Beatlefest (this was long before Ebay!), and, finally, I had them all. What happened then? The complete sets sat in binders in a file cabinet ...

Re: Harry And His Box Set

"Oh, my god, yes. I remember seeing it when it came out, and the fact that it was in the record section of a department store was the only indication that it was not a bootleg."

I remember thinking the same thing about "John Lennon Acoustic."

If I remember correctly, they actually claimed they didn't use a picture of The Beatles because they didn't have any.
Right. Uh, huh.

Sigh.

Looking forward to the Caroline tapes, LR. :D

Re: Harry And His Box Set

The material on the transcription discs by the other artists doesn't necessarily come from the same show as The Beatles material. As I've found out recently, some of it's not even from the BBC radio, but lifted from the soundtrack of television broadcasts. It wouldn't be putting The Beatles' perform...

gabriel wrote: Sat Jan 06, 2024 11:17 am Am I correct that volume 1 seems to be formatted differently, with the audio split into just two files as opposed to individual tracks? Thanks.
No. It's split into 60 tracks - formatted exactly the same as the rest of the series.

Re: The Beatles At The Beeb

Thanks again for ending the year on a high note, LR. Compare this to the pointless Red / Blue remixes that Giles & Co. made so much out of (while issuing exactly NO new Beatles music). And how sad that Apple clearly has high quality tapes of the PGTB series and THEY haven't put out a comprehensi...

Re: The Beatles At The Beeb 1982 extended

I'd sure rather hear "Zub" than anything by The Lorne Gibson Trio, The Countrymen, Carter-Lewis And The Southerners or any number of the boring guests that PGTB featured! I had one of those "toy" phonographs, too. I remember playing outside in the backyard in 1964, with "Mee...

Re: Dr.Ebbet - what is the truth about his CD reissues?

Maybe this will help clarify things. I found an interview I did with him back in 2009 and he says: "Were all of the Ebbetts titles mastered from vinyl (as opposed to tape)? Well, in the early days, I did source almost primarily from vinyl. To be clear, when I say “the early days,” I mean the la...
