Re: Disque Americ Revolver

I'm not sure about conclusions based upon different needle-drops unless they're made by the same person using the same equipment. The last time I bought a new cartridge, for example, I was surprised how much wider the stereo soundstage was, so some of the difference might be due the equipment that's...

Re: Disque Americ Revolver

Thanks, LR. I get the same results - the two channels don't OOPS out to silence. I checked the title cut and didn't hear any digital clicks, however. The alternate mono transfer theory makes the most sense to me, though I'm surprised the two transfers sound as close as they do. It's really weird tho...

Re: Disque Americ Revolver

The Canadian White Album doesn't have the glitches and fixes the banding errors found on the U.S. CD, but so does the 30th Anniversary edition.

Re: What is the best source for Yoko "Revolution" overdub session's tape?

Both "Revolution" and "From Kinfauns To Chaos" contain unique material. Both sources have been combined on "Revolution Take 20 Session 2016 Remaster Edition." There's another bootleg which combines all the material as well, but lack of coffee is keeping me from remember...

Re: Extracting CDRs - Issues

By crystalisation, do you mean that cloudy goo that forms on the playing surface? If so, it can be removed with a drop of Dawn, a microfiber cleaning cloth, and a little patience.

Get Back Journals 2 was noted for that, IIRC.

Re: Disque Americ Revolver

I had some time to spot check the others... The Canadian Pepper, MMT and YS are the same as the U.S. (banding aside). There are some volume differences on Abbey Road and Let It Be, but they seem to be sourced from the same digital files. I didn't detect any difference in content on Past Masters or t...

Re: Yellow Dog Question

RE: Yellow Dog For years they were using comp tapes assembled by the people who had the tapes. They then bought the set and the "Day By Day" series was the result. RE: Watching Rainbows Yes, it's U.S.. The original issue had a pink back and featured the French radio tape of "Madman&qu...

Re: Disque Americ Revolver

To my ears, no. I was hoping they were from the earlier transfers from the vintage equipment, but I can't hear any difference.

Re: Disque Americ Revolver

For what it's worth, I took a closer look at the first four. The Canadian and U.S. issues of PPM and BFS seem to be identical, while the Canadian HDN shows the same characteristics as WTB - with inverted waveforms and running bit slower.

Re: What's New in 2020 (FAB)

"I'm Only Sleeping" is from the pre-performance footage from "Love". I'm presuming the other track is as well.
